Chapter 8- The Search

Shalini picked up the phone with so many confusion, anger and doubts in her heart. She went away from the group while everybody else was busy thinking a way out of this hell.

“Yah Sumit, How are you?” Shalini asked politely.

“Hello Shalini, I am fine and the happy news is that our band has cleared the first round and now we are preparing for the second one.” Sumit replied.

“Congrats Sumit! We are waiting for you and all the very best for the next rounds.” Shalini responded.

“Thanks Shalini, but right now I called because of a concerned issue. I got a message saying ‘I love Shalini’. What is this going on? Even yesterday I had a missed call from a private unknown number. I presume that the caller is still disturbing you. But, you told me that he himself said that now it had been delayed for some time.” Sumit asked.

“Hmm… Yeah Sumit. He messaged the same text to everybody of our group and they got the call too. I don’t know what to do. Everybody is agitated and furious right now. We are thinking of a way to resolve this situation.” Shalini said.

Shalini explained everything to Sumit and they talked a while, whereas others made a plan and tried to execute it. Shweta was a clever girl and she made some assumptions according to the data everybody had and analysed it got to some results. She was sure of one thing that the caller was one of their group members as how could he have all the numbers together. She thought that confronting him now, was useless as he has been hiding this thing from a long time so he won’t show up right now too. She thought about making him scare so, Shweta told this strategy to Shalini. She had to keep it highly confidential. So she didn’t put her trust onto anybody else rather only Shalini and told her everything. Shalini agreed to it while she had a counter plan already set in her mind which she and Sumit discussed on the phone.

Shweta had spread the rumour that Shalini was going to Police to report about this situation and then they will take the proper measures. Meanwhile, Shweta was told about the plan Shalini made, and to make sure of everything so that they could catch the culprit without pulling any outsider into the act.

Shalini was going to Police station but, before that she turned to say goodbye with the urge to see everybody’s face, so that she could see a frown on culprit’s face and make some kind of assumption. But she couldn’t see anything. She herself was in a dilemma as she was about to be stabbed by someone she knew and called him a friend one day. She was sad inside but to accompany her Devika shouted and said that she wanted to come with her.

Devika and Shalini left while Shweta was checking everybody’s bags and phones very smartly without letting anybody notice. She was stunned to find something in Shalini’s bag. It was a Dual SIM phone whereas she always carries an IPhone which was right now with her. She thought the caller must have kept it in her bag so that he may be safe. But Shweta had got the main evidence of the scene. She opened the call log and she could see only Shalini’s number. Shweta was smart so she checked every number in the list to find out which number was missing and she could spot the Caller. But, to her surprise the caller had saved every number with names. There was no member of the group whose number wasn’t saved on that list. But, she was sure the caller had to be among their group only.

She called Shalini and conveyed her issues and told the news they had accomplished by Shalini’s plan. Shalini told her to stay near the bag and put the phone back in the bag as the caller might be coming back to take the phone and play his cards but she has to stay alert and watch for the caller. He has to be someone among Rohan, Shaurya and Rahul.

Shweta did what she was told. Meanwhile, Devika and Shalini returned to the college and told everybody that the police will be coming shortly. Shalini told everything and shared all the things she, Shweta and Sumit discussed with Devika to which she agreed.

But, when they got back, Shalini was welcomed with news which could confirm the caller and she took a deep breath to end the creepy game and listen to that caller face to face. Shweta came and Shalini that news which was that the phone was gone from Shalini's bag. It might have gone when Shweta went with some work she suddenly got. But now they wanted to check everybody directly and this time Shalini was determined about it. So, they started to search everybody's bag and phones in front of them unknowing of the fact of who the caller was.
